Center To End Corporate Harm
We have a vision of a just, healthy, and democratic society where public health policies are built on unbiased science that prioritizes health for all, free of industry influence.
Founded at UC San Francisco, the center is now a multi-institution collaboration with Stanford University and The University of Sydney, in partnership with the UCSF Industry Documents Library.
Industries that produce health-harming products, including fossil fuels, plastics, petrochemicals, tobacco, and ultra-processed foods, have waged a decades-long assault on government regulatory agencies and policymaking to rig rules in their favor at the expense of public health.
At the same time, these health harming products have contributed to a rise in chronic disease. We are working to change that.
Our Strategy
We will use industry’s own words to expose their collaborations, strategies, and actions that put profits over people. We will leverage UCSF’s industry documents library -the world’s largest publicly accessible collection of corporate documents - to rigorously sunshine how corporations are working together and through front groups to undermine science and rig the rules of democracy in their favor.
We will work to change the rules that corporations have put in place to favor their products over health and democracy. Building on our rigorous research, partnerships, and communications, we will counteract the industry’s impact on science, policy, health, and social justice.
